Homeschool Summer Morning Time

Homeschool Summer Morning Time

Many of you are prepping to start a new homeschool year, and you can ease back into it by starting a summer morning time.

Simply choose a Bible resource, read aloud, and any facts practice that your children need and spend 30 minutes to an hour each morning connecting.

As you do this, you are repairing broken bonds and getting insight on how well your children are doing this summer.

Can they sit still and listen to you, or have they had more freedom than they can handle? Are they squabbling a lot?

These issues are often a sign that they need more parental attention and a summer morning time can help you ease back into a homeschool rhythm and solve behavior and attention issues before you have the full load of homeschooling.
Our Chore and Routine Pack can help you create better rhythms this summer!

Are you wondering what books to read to your children this summer?

Here is a list of great summer themed books from our upcoming Nature Book Flood!

The First Strawberries by Joseph Bruchac

The Beeman by Laurie Krebs

Time of Wonder by Robert McCloskey

The Honeybee by Kirsten Hall

When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree by Jamie L.B. Deenihan

Summer Sun Risin by William Nikola

The Sun; Our Nearest Star by Dr. Franklyn M. Branley

Water is Water by Miranda Paul

Some Bugs by Angela DiTerlizzi

Fireflies by Julie Brinckloe

In One Tidepool by Anthony Fredericks

Under the Lemon Moon by Edith Hope Fine

Or you could choose a summer themed chapter book such as:

Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield Fisher

Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls

Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome

Once you have a few stories picked out, and a daily routine set up with our Chore and Routine Pack you can add some facts practice or games.

If you are using Nourishing Nature Kindergarten you could get a jump on memorizing nature themed Bible verses. Each card includes the first letters of the verse so it's easier to memorize.

You can review fine art with our Art Memo Game

Review letters and numbers with the Early Years Morning Menu

Review science vocab with this resource

Play math games with resources from Right Start Math

Read poetry or look at art with our Elementary Morning Time Menus

Once you have resources pulled together, simply set a time each day to gather, give your children a snack or coloring page to work on while you read, and start learning together.

When you finish your summer morning time each day you can celebrate by doing something on the summer bucket list

As you build this summer morning time rhythm, your children will get in the habit of listening to your voice which will make easing into your homeschool year so much more peaceful and fun!
