Five Great Benefits of Christmas Homeschooling

Five Great Benefits of Christmas Homeschooling

Many of you are trying to decide what to do for Christmas School, or even if you can take time to do Christmas School.

Here are a few reasons why pausing regular homeschooling for Christmas school is important-

  1. It can help accelerate growth. Sometimes when we take a pause on regular studies it gives our children some processing time for all of the efforts to sink in. You might be surprised at how their reading or math skills grow while you back off of their regular work for a few weeks or a month.
  2. It provides connection. When we focus on joy centered learning it helps build happy family memories which you can focus on during hard times. Your children will behave better for you when they feel enjoyed by you so pause for some fun this holiday season.
  3. It teaches motor skills. Sometimes our children aren't reading well, or they are struggling with math because their visual tracking skills or fine motor skills still need work. When you pause regular school to focus on games like Santa's Beard Roll from the Holiday Book Flood, or making simple crafts like a paper chain or stained glass candle holders it gives our children a chance to strengthen skills that will positively impact their ability to read, write, and do arithmetic.
  4. It gives them a moment to rest their minds. When children are constantly under pressure to put out work that gives them no pleasure it feels stressful, but when you embrace joy filled stories, crafts, and recipes, it gives them a mental and physical reset so they can get their second wind.
  5. It helps them stay healthy. When you take time away from the normal school routine and get outside collecting pinecones for bird feeders, or gathering sticks for clay reindeer antlers, it gives them fresh air experiences that can help them stay physically healthy. As well, laughter is the best medicine, so taking time for fun can help your family stay in health this holiday season.
