Summer has officially started in our home, and we have marked the beginning with a few small gifts and a trip to the river. My children made summer goal lists, and I've created a summer menu and a summer rhythm.
6 am-Wake, Bible, Stretching
6:30-8:30 Write (I've got another book due next summer, and I'm also working on another American History resource)
8:30-10:00 Morning Time (We will keep reading the Bible, a read aloud, and a government or foreign language book each day.)
10:00-12:00 Gardening/Home Care
Monday-Pasta Primavera (I saute chicken or sausage and garden vegetables, reduce some heavy cream and parmesan, and then mix it all together with a pound of pasta)
Tuesday-Tacos-(This could be fish tacos with coleslaw, sweet tacos with Homade Sauce, or carne asada)
Wednesday-Ancient Grains Salad (quinoa, feta, garbanzos, and raisins with a cumin dressing. The recipe is in Precious People cookbook)
Summer Gifts for Kids
Rolling Thunder-This is a great story for celebrating Memorial Day, click to watch the Youtube version.
A Papa Like Everyone Else-This was the last book in the Precious People resource and it inspires lots of play and projects.
The Bee Man by Laurie Krebs-This is a sweet book about a beekeeper and it's a featured book in the Peaceful Press Summer Guide
- Another great book from the Summer Guide.
Time of Wonder by Robert McCloskey-This is a favorite summer book from Nourishing Nature Ocean Guide.
Little Town on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder-This is a wonderful summer book for Playful Pioneers families.
Summer is a wonderful opportunity to work on habits, get organized, and keep up our regular rhythms of reading aloud, nature time, and chores so that the transition back into co-op classes and a heavier academic load is smooth and easy.
